SAN FRANCISCO — Thursday, November 5, 2026. A space at the City Center shopping mall that has sat empty for nearly a decade is getting a new tenant. T&T Supermarket, a Canadian Asian grocery chain, is scheduled to open to the public at 9 a.m. today in approximately 50,000 square feet on the third floor of City Center, 2675 Geary Boulevard, near Masonic Avenue. The San Francisco Chronicle reported the opening date and pre-opening tour. As this article was prepared before the public opening hour, it is a scheduled opening, not an independent confirmation that doors have already opened to shoppers.
What shoppers will find
The new store plans to stock a broad selection of Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Southeast Asian ingredients and ready-to-eat food, with about 200 varieties of vegetables and 100 types of fruit, live seafood, specialty meats, handmade dumplings, sushi and prepared dishes. The food counters are expected to offer Taiwanese fan tuan rice rolls, Peking duck kits and the chain’s well-known crispy Papa Chicken. A café—reported as the first of its kind for T&T—will sell specialty drinks and pastries including Portuguese egg tarts and mochi buns. Availability and prices are subject to actual store operations.
Why the location matters
The third-floor premises have been unused since Best Buy closed in 2017. Whole Foods previously planned to occupy the location but did not open after years of delays. T&T took over the space and completed its development ahead of the November 5 opening. Mayor Daniel Lurie and T&T CEO Tina Lee attended a pre-opening event Wednesday evening, November 4. Bringing a major grocery store to the property could increase shopping and employment activity, though traffic and parking near Geary and Masonic remain concerns for some neighbors.
More Bay Area expansion
T&T opened a San Jose location in June 2026 and is planning additional stores in Newark and Millbrae. Those future openings are not already completed. For store updates and hours, consult T&T Supermarket’s official website and confirm before traveling.
